A different kind of smell
Went for the regular rides with M and the crew – Rode Witchy today, instead of Cappi. Absolutely awesome… not quite as camel-like as Cappi, light as a feather on her feet though. You can feel the power, always in control. She gives and gives. She’s lovely. Most comfortable trot ever (besides Ex’s) and even when Penny went galloping passed us, she just looked up took a few strides faster, i said “no” and she dropped right back into a big slow canter… it was amazing. Very willing. Completely different to a thoroughbred – the power is there, but it’s never straining at the bit. Far too sensible for that. And of course, warmbloods don’t race, so there’s none of that competitive streak in them. And she smells different. She’s the first mare i’ve ridden in _years_ and years. Must be a mare thing. I’m hoping i get another chance to ride her… she really is wonderful.
Cappi was well behaved for D though – floating along in an extended trot next to me, head on the bit.
He was very good for me last time i rode, i must admit. M says it’s because i’m very gentle “not a bully” like her
hehe In other words, i’m too soft on him. But i’d prefer a happy, lazy horse, to a hyped up horse fighting me the whole way. He can be quite a handful.
Big show this weekend gone by, took loads of photos but had to delete a whole wack *sigh*
Oh for a 500mm lens, or an 8MP camera. Close up, my photos are crystal clear… anything too “far away” and i get that horrible pixelation effect. Annoys the crud out of me, because i took some _stunning_ photos over the combinations… and blam.. too “pixelised” to be of any use. so annoying.
But i’ll get there! I will!
My legs are tired – really tried hard to ride Witchy properly today. no swinging legs or bumping heels. I did ok i think, she has a much easier trot to ride than Cappi. I just have to get used to the fact that she _wants_ contact on the bit… she gets all uppity if i leave her reins too loose. I’m so used to thoroughbreds fighting for their heads. It’s a strange feeling having her gently biting the bit, happily relaxed and eager to please. I’m not so well trained, so i’ll need to work on keeping the contact. Just not used to a horse like her.
Been an exciting few weeks – lots of photo publishing and things. Waiting to hear back from the book company who wanted to use my photos for an educational book called “Pony”
I should mail them again. And called Orms about delivering my photo enlargement.
lemme do that, and upload some photos too….
